I’ve realized I have yet to write a yearly blog posting for 2024. I’ve been so good at posting one every year*, so I’ve got to get to it this year.
I have had a busy year in 2023 and hope to continue that in this year. I’ve been submitting less to single panel cartoon markets such as magazines and finding (or, more accurately, they find ME) other outlets for single panel cartoons and illustrations. In the past year I have created cartoons for a book on widowhood, a book on senior (as in 60+ years old) dating, participated in a book on The New Yorker caption contest and am currently creating illustrations on a book about surfing. As you can see, except for the caption contest these all involve topics I know next to nothing about. I take pride in my ability to learn enough about a topic to create a cartoon on it and, if not, cartoons allow me to make something up. I hope (key word there) to do more writing this year, both here and with the possible creation of a Substack post and even some graphic sequence work.
Like my previous postings here, that remains to be seen. In the meantime, I enjoy The NY Times Connections much more than Wordle (maybe because it’s easier). I will make sure to post any further announcements. Hey, if you’re reading this, give me a shout or hi. I’d do the same for you.
